Mrs. Corrigan and Ms. Diamond.

Even though my parents were both from the Portland area, I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Massachusetts. I went to the University of Massachusetts and moved to Maine shortly after graduation.

I’ve spent my teaching career in South Portland. I started out working as a reading tutor at Lincoln School and then Dyer. My first year as a regular classroom teacher was at Small School teaching fifth grade. I was then moved to Hamlin School where I taught fourth and fifth grades. When Hamlin closed I came to Skillin School.

I live in Scarborough, Maine with my husband Fred, my son Sam and two mischievous cats. I also have two daughters. Heidi lives in New Jersey, and Heather lives in Portland with her husband and son.

My favorite subjects to teach are math, science and reading. I love to travel, read, walk on the beach, and bike. My favorite place in Maine is Acadia National Park. I love watching science fiction. My favorite color is green and dark chocolate cashew clusters are my favorite candy. I can’t imagine doing any job except this one.

This will be my 13th year as a classroom teacher. I began teaching in a two-room schoolhouse on a small island and then worked for 8 years teaching in Topsham. Before that, I worked as a naturalist and environmental educator for Acadia National Park, Maine Audubon Society , The Chewonki Foundation and the National Audubon Society. I enjoy the outdoors, birding and botany and look forward to my next expedition!
